Ludlow
Ludlow is one the finest gourmet centres outside London with a wealth of fine dining.
Many events enhance our popularity as a major tourist town.
A Vintage vehicle rally. Spring fairs, a two week Shakespearean festival, a summer jazz festival - at he Charlton - a medieval Christmas fayre and a major food and drink festival in September with sausage trail and many other delicious diversions.
There is always something happening in or around Ludlow including a traditional open air street market - four days a week- flea markets, book markets, green markets and a regular “Local to Ludlow” farmers market. Ludlow is the first Cittaslow or “Slow City” in the U.K. embracing the ethos.

Originally an important river crossing on a pack- horse trail, Ludlows natural fortifications rising from the River Teme developed into our fine castle being built started 1086- and Ludlow becoming a garrison town to defend the Wales/England border.
Later a Royal Castle Prince Edward was pronounced King Edward V. In Ludlow before leaving with his young brother and Uncle Richard. Ludlow also saw the sad demise of Arthur, Prince of Wales in 1502, allowing his younger brother to be come Henry VIII.
Throughout the 16th Century Ludlow was the administrative capital of Wales and The Marches - much of Ludlows fine architecture stems from these historical times and the establishment of a vibrant wool trade based around the many mills an the River Teme which enhanced Ludlows Prosperity.
